Greenland Speed Crossing Record Expedition - April 2011

In order to make Alex and Wilki's expedition to ski across the arctic Greenland icecap in less than 8days 9hours more accessible, a running blog will be maintained as well as details of the expedition and ways to contact the team.

THE EXPEDITION IN NUMBERS:

350 miles - The number of miles the team will have to ski

8/4/11 - The day they will fly by helicopter to their Nagtivit glacier start point

8days 9hours - The 1995 record which the pair will aim to break by skiing over 40 miles and 15 hours per day

-35 degrees - Likely minimum temperatures on the summit plateau

60mph - Wind speeds which are likely to sweep down towards the team in a piteraq storm

40kg - The super-lightweight sledges Alex and Wilki hope to begin their journey with

8,600kcal - The enormous daily intake of food to fuel them through 15 hour days in the harness
